Silver Puppies

I am asked all of the time, how do you know which puppy will be silver?

at birth the hairs on the pads of the puppy's feet will be varying of silver or white hairs, depending on how many and how silvery the puppies will be silver.  By the time they are 6 wks old they will have a silver face & feet, a black or blue puppy will be black.  

Here's a couple of picture examples:

see the light hair, his pads are very pinkish too.  A black puppy has all black on the bottom of their feet. This silver puppy is a couple of days old.

here's the same puppy about five weeks old, see the dark/black around his nose with a silver face?  He will be a darker silver blue not the platnium silver as ...

"Fiona" 7 weeks, 2011

our "Grace" is a silver but gets very dark as her hair grows, we call her a silver blue but she is registered as a silver poodle,

Black & Blue Puppies are very similar, they are as beautiful and wonderful as their parents!

these are "blue" puppies, see the brown hue to their black coats?  they will be a lighter black with greying hairs
